What it is
This is a very simple frame that helps you position your action camera underwater. Simply use your existing waterproof case to snap your camera into the frame using the standard camera mount. Adjust the length of line from the ballast bag to the bottom of the frame to adjust the camera’s height above the bottom and your ready to toss the camera rig into the water.
Why
We created this camera rig for several reasons:
- You’re a maker and you want to assemble this thing yourself.
- We’re makers and we want to share this project with you.
- We aim to foster a spirit of independence and critical thinking.
- Capturing imagery of the world under the sea is not only cool, it is also very educational.
We made it a kit
You want to do DIY stuff, but there’s only so much time in a day. Who has time to search around to source all the parts? Well, problem solved! We put everything you will need to build the camera rig in a kit so you can jump right to the fun stuff. There’s even a quick start guide included that contains a QR code which allows you to download a PDF or, even better, watch a video that shows you how to construct it. It’s fun, fast and easy. What more could you ask for? You’ll be recording before you know it.
Thoroughly tested
We didn’t have fun testing this one at all 🙂 Somebody had to sacrifice by heading to
beautiful beaches and canals to put this camera rig to the test. We tossed this one in many times and recorded all of it for your benefit. See the links below for some of the test footage. Not doubt you’ll be anxious to test and verify the results for yourself.
